Trip Announcement List
We use a trip announcement list to announce
upcoming trips and tentative trip information. For more
information click here.
Our Let's Paddle Schedule contains information
on all of the trips we have scheduled this year. We are not outfitters, we are just
a group of paddlers who like to get out and enjoy the water. Our trips vary from
beginner level floats, to advanced expeditions throughout North America.

Canoe Colorado is also active with the Rocky Mountain Canoe Club, which offers

Green River, Browns Park
The International Whitewater Rating System rates whitewater on a
scale of I - VI. We use the following criteria to rate our river information.
River ratings are not precise, since they account for many factors
including current, waves, obstacles, and ease of rescue. Water levels often change
a rapids difficulty, where high water may create larger waves and holes or low water
can expose more rocks. Our river ratings are only a rough guide, as conditions can
and do change.
Sometimes a section falls between two ratings, and at that time
a + or - will be added. For example class II+ or class III- indicate rapids which
are borderline. We may also rate a section class I-II, which indicates it is generally
class I, but may have class II sections.
Class I
Still or moving water. Small waves with regular patterns. Clear
channels with no major obstructions. Suitable for beginner paddlers in open canoes
or sea kayaks.

The North Platte River above Pick Bridge is class I
Class II
Small rapids with waves up to 3' high, some irregular waves. Generally
clear channel with some rocks and low ledges. Scouting not required. Suitable for
intermediate paddlers in open river canoes and touring kayaks.
Class III
Powerful rapids with irregular waves up to 5' high. Narrow passages
constricted by rocks or high ledges. Good maneuvering skills required to avoid obstacles.
Scouting is suggested. Suitable for advanced paddlers in decked river canoes, whitewater
canoes and kayaks. Sea kayaks are not recommended.
Class IV - VI
Whitewater beyond the current scope of our website. The Grand Canyon
is class V. Big rapids, boiling eddies, and rescue is difficult if possible.

One of the more popular questions we are asked is "Where can I paddle?".
Our paddling destinations information is constantly being developed to help provide
