![]() Roof racks for Canoes and Sea KayaksA good roof rack is the safest way to transport your canoe or sea kayak. If you are in the Denver area, we strongly encourage you to visit Rack Attack on Leetsdale at Holly. Rack Attack offers the best service and support, and their in store prices rival these deals we found online. We know that Rack Attack isn't always convenient, especially if you just want some small parts. For that reason we have partnered with Amazon.com to offer a selection of Yakima racks. We do not stock these ourselves (though we do use them), we are simply offering them as a web order option. Amazon.com offers free shipping on many purchases and no sales tax. Buying these racks can save you 10% or more. To determine which rack is right for your vehicle, visit Yakima's website for their rack configurator.

Complete Kits
Roof racks are made up of several different components. The primary parts are
the towers and bars. These complete kits offer towers, bars, end caps, and other
necessary hardware for a basic rack setup. We suggest adding locks and other
accessories as needed to finish out the rack. |

The Yakima Low Rider is designed to fit on raised factory roof racks. It
replaces the flimsy bars with solid Yakima bars, offering much better support
for your boat. The Low Rider complete kit includes four towers, two bars, and end caps. The bars will be sized to your vehicle, but we suggest using 66" bars as the minimum length for boat hauling. If you plan to haul a canoe or sea kayak on a vehicle with a factory roof rack, we strongly suggest using the Low Rider in place of those flimsy factory support bars. |

Q Towers are designed for cars without factory roof racks or rain gutters. The
towers sit on rubber pads near the edge of your roof. Q clips, custom designed
for each vehicle, fasten onto the edge of the door jam and into the Q tower for
a tight fit. This kit includes four Q towers, and end caps for round bars. It does not include Q clips, round bars, or locks. |

Q clips connect the Q towers to your vehicles door frame. Each Q clip is custom
designed for a specific vehicle. Q clips are sold in packages of two. Two sets, a total of four clips are required for a Q tower rack. The front and rear clips will be different, each with it's own shape, hence the need to order them separately. These clips are shipped from the Rack Warehouse. It will be necessary to specify what vehicle, and if they are front or rear clips when ordering. |

Bars do not include end caps, those come with the tower kits, or can be bought separately. |
For paddling purposes, we suggest using 66" or wider bars. The shorter bars will fit some vehicles better, but do not work well in shuttle situations. 48" bars will support one canoe, or two kayaks 58" bars will support one canoe, two kayaks, or one solo canoe and one kayak 66" bars will support two solo canoes, one solo and one tandem canoe, or three kayaks 78" bars will support two tandem canoes, two solo canoes, or three kayaks. We use 66" and 78" bars on our vehicles with Yakima racks. 66" is our suggested size for tripping purposes. |

SKS Lock Cores fit inside all lockable
Yakima racks and accessories. The included key fits everything in the pack. Roof racks require a minimum of 4 cores, one core per tower. Accessories will also require their own cores. Plan ahead and buy a larger pack than you initially need. Then you can use those extra cores in the future to secure other Yakima accessories using the same key. If you already have cores, and want your accessories to use the same key, we suggest buying new cores from Rack Attack, and having them modify the new cores to fit your current key. |

Hully Rollers allow you to roll your
kayak onto the roof of your vehicle. They can be positioned to any width, and
their pivoting arms will conform to your boats shape. The rubber rollers can be
locked in place once your boat is loaded, to prevent it from sliding back. This set includes one pair of hull rollers. Two sets are required to support one kayak. We suggest using solid saddles such as the Land Shark or Mako for the front pair of saddles. |
||

Mako saddles form to almost any hull
shape, cradling your kayak and reducing stress points. This set includes one pair of Mako saddles. Two sets are required to support one kayak. We suggest using Hully Rollers on the stern and Mako saddles on the front for easy loading and unloading of your boat. |
||

Hull Raisers are J cradles that store
your kayak on edge. This requires less roof space than traditional saddles,
making room for more boats or other accessories on your rack. Your kayak is very strong on its side, and the Hull Raisers are a very good way to haul kayaks without harming them. Comes with two heavy duty straps, and adapters for round or square bars. The Hull Raisers will not work with Hully Rollers. |
||

Land Shark saddles are the most cost
effective way to haul a kayak. Sold in sets of four, one set has enough saddles to support one kayak. While the Land Shark saddles do not form as easily as the Mako saddles, they have a firmer attachment to your roof rack and reduce kayak movement. |
